Camp Pop & Nana

(2018)

Every summer, the grandchildren spend a week with Pop and Nana visiting interesting places and doing fun things.

The Campers

Juliana

Olive

Wilder

Every day begins with snacks and hot chocolate with whipped cream in bed.

Angus joins in as well

And frequently ends with a fun dessert!

On the first day of Camp this year we returned to Indraloka Animal Sanctuary (which we visited in 2016). a home for rescued farm animals.

Ariana was our guide for the day.

The campers were able to pet the cows . . .

Feed the sheep . . .

Pet the pigs . . .

And feed the chickens.

Feeding the chickens was the most fun!

First you drill a hole in a head of lettuce and run twine through it.

Then you walk among the chickens and let them peck at the dangling heads of lettuce.

Some of the other residents at the sanctuary:

On the next day, we went camping at Lackawana State Park.

Pop cooking bacon, which always

smells good when you're camping.

Angus also enjoys camping!

Enjoying S'mores cooked over the campfire

The park recently added a very nice swimming pool and water entertainment area, which Olive and Wilder thoroughly enjoyed

The next day, we spent 6 hours at the  Hartford Fair.

A full day of rides, games, carnival food and other great stuff! . . .

Nana really liked the Bumping Cars!

The Finest in Carnival Cuisine: Bacon Peanut Butter Hot Dogs!

Wilder won a Blue Ribbon for being

the "pig rooter" for one of the winning pigs.

One camper was really tuckered out at the end of the day!

Our next outing was to the Binghamton Zoo.

Everyone enjoyed this stop . . .

But, by far, the MOST favorite part was feeding the sheep and goats!

We finished the day riding the Carousel and enjoying the playground at Binghamton's Recreation Park.

And on our final day, we went bowling . . .

Wilder had the highest score!

. . . played some indoor miniature golf . . .

. . . and tried our luck at video games.

And, of course, fuse beads continued to be popular.

And then, after the grandchildren were all safely returned to their parents, . . .

Pop and Nana relaxed!
