through

New Mexico, Colorado, Utah & Arizona

(Summer 2009)

During the summer of 2009 my son, Geof, and I did a 2,000-mile motorcycle trip through northwestern New Mexico, western Colorado, southeastern Utah and Northern Arizona.  Needless to say, the trip was great and the scenery was fantastic!!

Northwestern New Mexico:

The following photos were taken between Grants and Chama, New Mexico.

After we left Chama, we rode for a little bit in northern New Mexico . . .

We then rode through the Red Pass in the Rocky Mountains between Durango and Ouray, Colorado.  It rained  --sometimes it poured!!-- for most of our ride through the mountains.

This is the storm we drove through!

We then drove north on Rt. 550 to Montrose and then on Rt. 50 north from Montrose to Whitewater, CO, where we took Rt. 141 south to Gateway, CO.  The next morning, we left Gateway and headed to Utah.  The following photos were taken between Gateway and Naturita, CO along Rt. 141.

We then left Colorado and headed into Utah . . .

In Utah, we rode through the Glen Canyon area . . .

. . . and crossed the Colorado River.

After we left Glen Canyon, we rode north to Capitol Reef National Park.

After Capitol Reef, we rode through the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.
